I'm going to be a high school graduate before the potato salad in the fridge expires. That's super soon, isn't it? Before the picnic food goes bad, I'll have walked across the stage of the Coral Springs City Centre and received my high school dipl…

I definitely agree. I'm (reluctantly) going to prom, but when I was considering *not* going or possibly selling my ticket, everyone was all, "You have to go! It's the night to remember! You'll regret it if you don't!" Truth be told, I know plenty of…

I agree with this whole article Elizabeth. Either way wanted to or not, I couldn't go to prom cause of FSU orientation, which is sorta a bummer as SGA stopped buy and told me I got nominated for prom king after the day ticket sales ended lol. But h…

High School's Expiration Date

I'm going to be a high school graduate before the potato salad in the fridge expires.

That's super soon, isn't it?

Before the picnic food goes bad, I'll have walked across the stage of the Coral Springs City Centre and received my high school diploma. Senior year is so hectic, there's no time to ponder the inevitable conclusion of high school. Seniors are enveloped in AP tests, field trips, finals, newspaper, speeches and oodles of other things. Only on the final Monday morning of high school… Continue

The Other Side of Prom

Saturday May 9th marked my school's prom. I didn't go, and I didn't mind.

On Saturday night, I spent time with my best friend, family, and boyfriend. I spent all of $15 that night for dinner, and I enjoyed myself more than you'd expect.

I didn't go to prom because it's just so expensive. There's the ticket, the dress (or tux), your hair, flowers, a ride there and accessories. Jeez. Senior year is expensive enough. I don't need to go pay money to watch a bunch of my classmates engage in question… Continue

AP Testing: Holy Crap

Today is the day. After three and a half quarters of college level annoyance, thousands of students will venture into seemingly military monitored rooms to endure and hopefully ace their Advanced Placement College Board tests.

My AP test isn't until Thursday, so I haven't reached that "HOLY-CRAP-MY-TEST-IS-WITHIN-THE-NEXT-36-HOURS-HOW-ON-EARTH-AM-I-GOING-TO-DO-THIS??" stage yet. But plenty of my friends have.

There's the confident ones, like my proudly nerdy best friend who boasts about his la… Continue

Ignorance isn't Bliss

Today in newspaper it was time to assign articles. I asked a writer if he could write a short article about the potential swine flu epidemic and he stared at me blankly.

"What's that?" he asked.

I was absolutely astonished. I don't understand how students can be so misinformed (especially students that work on a newspaper, irony at its finest, but that's another point) and remain so unaware of the most common issues.

Yahoo.com's 'front page' story is about swine flu. The light-hearted local n… Continue

FSPA slowed by elevators

You're supposed to avoid elevators if there's a fire, and I'm pretty sure you're supposed to avoid them if there's hundreds of student journalists in the building. This year's competition, just like in years past, is held at the Hyatt Regency in Tampa. There's only a set of 4 elevators transporting the hundreds of students at this convention.

Good thing student journalists are so friendly, because 11 to an elevator is a bit too cozy for most. When it's time to head down from the 10th floor to t… Continue
