A Lack of Reality

Okay so let me start off by saying that for better or worse I rarely miss an episode of Gossip Girl.

I've read all the books and I think the T.V. show is pretty good for a lot of different reasons; i.e. I love the fashion and the music that accompanies each episode. But I can't help to watch the show/read the books and get a little fustrated. I mean here let us break it down:… Continue

Senior year, the best time of our lives?

Am I the only one who feels like senior year is just not what everyone bolsters it to be? Sure you party and have the fun with friends, but I did that last year too. In fact, aside from massive amounts of homework, ACT stress, and college applications, I don't see much that distinguishes senior year from my previous high school experiences. Perhaps this is because my boyfriend was a senior last year and having spent a lot of time with his group of friends, exposed me to the thrill that is supp… Continue

Politics: At Some Point, It Just Isn't Funny Anymore

Skip to about 34 seconds (before that it is irrelevant stuff)
While I am not a big fan of political ads that twist the truth, such as the McCain ad that makes it seem as though Barack Obama wants to teach kindergartners how to use condoms (that is so absurd), I deal with them the best that I can. But these "waffles" have not only crossed the line of untrue and blown out of proportion propaganda, they have created an entirely new line due to its overwhelming… Continue

The College Search: The Real Deal on College Tours - American University

American University Washington D.C. The tour at American University is good if you have none to little prior information about the school. If you are in the D.C. area (since so many other schools are located nearby, such as Georgetown, George Mason, George Washington, etc.), I would highly recommend making a stop. But I do not advocate booking a trip just to tour American University. Mainly, because if you have researched the school by reading their web site o… Continue

Politics: Paris Hilton for President?

Earlier this week, John McCain had attempted to lighten his image with what he thought was an effective and humorous jab at Barack Obama. In his ad, McCain insinuates that due to Obama’s overwhelming popularity, Obama is in a sense a celebrity. While most of us may think celebrity status is a fascinating thing, McCain's ad goes on to compare Obama to the likelihoods of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Sorry McCain but I don’t think the joke landed. Obama, a Harvard law school graduate, may be yo… Continue

The College Search: The Real Deal on College Tours - Yale University

As Fall approaches, frantic rising seniors feel the pressure of applying to college. Where to go? Am I good enough? Will I like the campus? So many questions. So little time. A way to seize these questions and learn a little more about a school is the college tour. I realize that seeing the campus and trying to get a feel for it is very important when selecting where you want to spend the next four years. Unfortunately, with the current recession numerous campus visits just aren't an option fo… Continue
