This is our generation, people.

Yesterday afternoon, in Coral Springs, an older brother stabbed and killed his younger brother during an argument over the volume of the computer. Last month, a 12-year-old stabbed a 13-year-old in the same area of Coral Springs before stabbing himself. Both these events occurred merely minutes from my own home. Let's not forget about the poor boy in Deerfield Beach who was set on fire a couple weeks ago after an argument about money. Now, I've always felt safe and secure in Coral Springs, but… Continue

The Wait

"The future is going to come sooner or later. Don't worry about it. Just live." I try to live by this quote, but, lately, it's getting harder to. With college applications in, and a lack of motivation to try hard in school, all I want to know is what college I'm going to; where I'm going to be next year. Is anyone else having this same problem? The insecurities and doubts, the fear and the nerves.... People say the worst part about senior year is applying to colleges. They're wrong - the worst… Continue

This is what REALLY matters.

So, as I was mindlessly surfing the headlines today, I stopped on one at AOL. Frankly, it told me that if I didn't want to read mindless celebrity gossip or stories about murder, to click this link. So I did. And I'm glad I did. Kevin Howard was a small-town football coach in Lincoln, Alabama, a town of 6,000 whose Friday nights revolved around the high school football team. He died last week during a football game, but his legacy still lives on. The field was renamed after him, and it's first… Continue

Where is my vote part 1.5

Hey everyone! Earlier this week, I posted a blog about the chaos in Iran as a result of the election results on June 12. I figured that since I have a gateway to a lot of inside information, I should inform all of you about what I've been hearing. First off, I'm going to issue a disclaimer. Most of this information is second-hand knowledge, what I've been told from family and what my mom's heard from my grandma. My mom's side of the family lives in Tehran, right in the heart of the city. So th… Continue

Where is my vote?

I am an Iranian-American. Let's be quite honest for a second - I can sometimes be shy about my heritage. But, I have never been as horrified and proud to be an Iranian as I am right at this moment. Since the election results on June 12, the country had erupted into chaos. The heart of the violence is in Tehran, the capital and one of my absolute favorite places in the world. However, the sight right now is ghastly. Mast rallies and protests every day, people found beaten and shot, dorm rooms… Continue
