Once again, that time has come. Does anyone else feel that it’s come too soon this year? One day I’m shopping for wide legged jeans and the next I’m on the hunt for some booties. Now, all of a sudden, we’re celebrating a time to be thankful but all I can think about is what happened to October. But I am thankful, don’t get me wrong. I’m thankful for my family, my friends… and designers.

While everyone is getting ready for the big Turkey day, I’m getting ready for the day after. Yup, black Friday. I can just feel that Hype North/South Flap Tote in my hands. But just some advice for the fashion hunters: if you really want to snag some fashionable deals this holiday, you better brace yourself; fashionistas are not afraid to get feisty. Make sure you know what you want, make a list, bring enough cash (it’s faster and safer), and get up early. Oh, and don’t forget to bring water; it’s a tough game out there.

Soon, you’ll probably be rummaging around stores in search of the latest gift for a loved one, or yourself. The holidays are upon us and you know what that means: the death of our wallets. But fear not, the Cheap Chic blog is equipped with cheap chic gifts that will make you, your wallet and your gift-receiver feel that holiday cheer. But first, the strategies:

Make a budget. See how much you can spend. You might not get to buy everything all once. Work around your pay check or allowance. A calendar might come in handy.

Make your list. Write down the people you want to give to. Organize that list by who is most important in your life. I know you can’t really compare people but a gift you get for your mom won’t be the same kind of gift you give to a friend you just met. Oh, and don’t forget to put me on there. N-No? Ahh, okay.

Make another list. Write down ideas for their gifts or how much you would like to spend (if you’ve got no clue at all.) Creating both lists might save you from going over your budget.

Shop online or around. Go to the store that the person you’re giving a gift to loves to shop in or, in the case of anti-shopping boys, would like the things the store has. Ask the sales people if they’re going to be having any up-coming sales and if there is a mailing list you can sign up for. Go online and sign up for that store’s e-mailing list; if it’s free, of course. You can receive the heads-up on discounts or special coupons that will help you save loads. But be careful: some expire or have tricky conditions. Again, your calendar will come in handy.

Watch out. Hidden fees are everywhere this time of year! “Oh, would you like that gift wrapped? It’s going to be an extra $50.” Okay, while the price may be closer to $5, stray away from store gift wrapping, unless it’s free. Sure, it’s nice and pretty but you can buy pack of wrapping paper, bows, and gift tags for $5. Or, if you’re feeling creative, make your own wrapping paper HERE. You’ll be giving a unique touch to each present.

Be on the lookout. Scams can get you in a messy rut. All joking aside, you really should pay with cash this holiday shopping season; it’s faster and safer. Or, if you must pay with a card, make sure your parents (or you, once you get home) to check the card online. This will help you track the spending and your budget. Your parents will definatly feel that holiday cheer with you being so cautious.

Get crafty. If the whole, spending-lots-of-money idea doesn’t suit, you buy a DIY book, go online, and visit a craft store. There are plenty of books HERE and plenty of DIY “how-to”s HERE. These gifts can still be fashionable and cheap chic. Also, your gift-receiver (that sounds like a football position to me) will love the personalized touches and your hard work. Just make sure you do a couple trail runs; aka, don’t do it the night before you’re going to see them.

And to give you a heads up on your online Christmas shopping, this Cheap Chic blog will help you find fashionable gifts for everyone with whatever budget you’re on. As always, the pictures are complete with links. Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Holidays, and Happy Hunting!

Now I can go Black Friday shopping tactfully, and not completely blind. What would I do without you?
