I am a firm believer in that those who work hard will ultimately be rewarded. However, I've always worked hard and haven't seemed to get much in return, until now!
No, this is not a scam. I'm not promoting some fat loss shake or a get rich scheme, I'm simply telling you that I have finally been rewarded.
You see, I have always strived to do my best in school. I may not receive the best grades but I do all the studying and preparation I can in order to get by. I am always at church and active in my youth group. I volunteer my time anytime someone needs it. I am the one who has to miss hanging out with his friends in order to get a task done. That is the story of my life.
For awhile, I thought I would stop. What's the point of working my tail off in school? Why must I constantly give of myself to others? There can't possibly be any compensation.
I wasn't looking for any compensation though. The incentive was all in the work. Over this summer, I had the experiences of a lifetime. I went on a church scholarship trip to Greece with my best friends. I was accepted to a journalism program at my dream school, UNC Chapel Hill. Finally, thanks to Teenlink, I was able to experience reviewing big name concerts and athletic events.
I have been given incredible opportunities. Therefore, I took each one and cherished it. I worked hard just to achieve the opportunity, and I go with it.
Ladies and gentleman, the hard work in high school, the countless number of service hours and the training for your sport will pay off! Look forward to the future because it is a bright one. Cease every opportunity you can to build your intelligence, morals and integrity. Good things come to those who wait!
