Hey everyone! Earlier this week, I posted a blog about the chaos in Iran as a result of the election results on June 12. I figured that since I have a gateway to a lot of inside information, I should inform all of you about what I've been hearing.

First off, I'm going to issue a disclaimer. Most of this information is second-hand knowledge, what I've been told from family and what my mom's heard from my grandma.

My mom's side of the family lives in Tehran, right in the heart of the city. So they have seen a lot of the protests and violence that have been occurring. Motorcycles are being blown up on the street, tear gas has been sprayed on protesters, and innocent people have been killed by stray bullets.

What's interesting is how the rest of the population is dealing with the chaos. My family hasn't gotten involved in the protests for safety reasons, but they've seen some changes. Work offices will close early so people can get home before protests start, and it's safer not to travel around the city at night for the moment. A really interesting thing I've noticed is that when we make international calls to Tehran, the phone lines will mysteriously disconnect...meaning that a limit has likely been put on talk time.

But besides that, people are going on with their lives like normal. They go out, shop, work...my aunt even just attended a wedding in the midst of the crazy. Life goes on, but right now it's just rickety.
